Poland’s new excise tax on e‑cig devices and disposables threatens smaller firms

New excise duties for e-cigarettes and disposables hit Poland’s market on 1st July, following rules that came into force on 1st April. The resulting increase in vape prices could significantly squeeze legal operators, especially smaller businesses.

E-cigarette devices and disposables in Poland now face a PLN40 (€9.40) excise duty, alongside existing e-liquid duties for disposables. This new tax might not last long, however, as draft bill UD213, proposing a complete ban on these products, is undergoing public consultation and could pass in September. Following consultation, the bill will be sent to the EU Commission via the TRIS database.
